But now that the project is finished, what should you do next? Here are four things to do to ensure your home is in tip-top shape after a window replacement project.

Once the window replacements are complete, ask the contractor to do a walk-through with you. This way, you can ensure that all of the windows have been installed correctly and that there are no issues. If there are any problems, now is the time to fix them.

• Inspect your windows or patio doors annually 
• Clean, repaint or restrain your windows as needed
• Inspect and recalk around your windows as needed to help maintain optimal performance.
• Regularly check for leaks and improper drainage above or around vents.

 
 
Add Window Security Systems
Now it’s time to install or integrate your security system to your new windows and doors. Here are a few things to remember for a smooth installation with your new windows. 
 

• As window installers, we cannot reinstall your alarm on the new windows. Only the alarm technicians are licensed and experienced in reconnecting security alarms to new windows. 
• Be aware that issues can sometimes arise between the alarm system and the new operation style of the window installed. For example, if the old window is double-hung and your new window is a casement style, you may need to upgrade or modify your alarm system due to the different ways the windows operate.
